I am based in The Hague, The Netherlands. From 1995
to 2006 I was active in Brussels and from 2006 to 2010 in Tokyo. I made
instruments for Sigiswald Kuijken, Francois Fernandez, Ryo Terakado and many others, members of orchestras such as Collegium Vocale, Anima Eterna, Il Fondamento, La Petite Bande, Ricercar Consort etc. In 2002-2003 I worked on the reconstruction of the violoncello da spalla and from 1995 to 2006 on the reconstruction of a set of early-baroque violins for La Petite Bande.
Other activities include playing baroque violin and violoncello da
spalla, as well as teaching at various institutions in Italy, Belgium,
The Netherlands, Mexico and Japan. From 2006 to 2010 I taught at the National University of Fine Arts and Music in Tokyo (baroque violin history) and at Daikanyama Academy of Music in Tokyo (historically informed violin-making). Now I am working on some other projects and making instruments for those on my waiting list (Full CV)
My clients I am having very exciting, happy and joyful days with my violin. I love
it so much! I can make lots of colours. I can not explain this, but the
violin has very beautiful Baroque sounds. I feel very Baroque! -- Kaoru Ouchiyama, 02.03.2009
